What is Beats By Girlz UK?
Beats By Girlz UK is an initiative to provide support to girls, women and gender-expansive individuals in learning music production and developing career opportunities within the music industry.
What will I learn?
The course comprises 5 x 2 hour workshops, held weekly. Digital Audio Workststions (DAW’s) and the necessary audio equipment will be provided. The workstations are designed to highlight and demonstrate that professional music can be created in a home studio with minimal equipment or financial outlay. The course will lead you through Ableton Live Lite 11 and equip you with the skills needed to record and create music, including songwriting hints and tips. Our course leaders also have experience with other DAW’s and creative set-ups.

Where is the course held?
Taster sessions and course workshops will be held at Seaview Studio, Folkestone, Kent.
When will the course be running?
Taster sessions will offer the opportunity to come and discover the creative space, check out the workstations and meet the course tutors. These sessions will be Sunday 24th Oct 3-5pm and Sunday 31st Oct 3-5pm

Flo Glen – Singer / Songwriter / Music Producer
Folky, acoustic, electronic – Florence draws on a mix of influences to deliver powerful, soulful modern songwriting. After living on the move between London and Lisbon, Florence has now settled in Folkestone, UK and has just released her debut album in her DIY home studio – all arranged, recorded and produced herself.
As well as getting on with her own music, Florence also teaches music and music production in the local area, helping young people access the tools to create their own music.
Florence’s previous work includes the EP ‘Spread Them Eggs’ (released 2016), which was featured on Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing top picks.
Technical Finger – Music Producer / Songwriter / DJ
Technical Finger has released numerous tracks as a solo artist and has featured on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and many other national radio stations. A regular on the nightclub DJ circuit, he is renowned for playing old skool Jungle and the hardest of Drum & Bass dancefloor shakers. His own music has been likened to heavyweight dance music pioneers such as; Massive Attack, Groove Armada, Portishead, Kosheen, Morcheeba, Roni Size and Bassment Jaxx.
Now working out of his recording studio in Folkestone, the world’s first Music Town, he continues to produce music for solo projects as well as collaborations. At Seaview Studio, he works with artists in Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, solo singer/songwriters and bands.
Sophia Stutchbury – Singer / Songwriter / Topliner / Vocal Coach
Sophia has had a numerous commercial releases on various independent record labels as a solo artist or featuring artist, working with music producers across the globe. She has had tracks in the Top 10 charts for Music Week and Beatport. A well-established live performer, she has featured on Channel 4, KMTV, BBC Radio and many others.
She has written and worked with writers, producers and musicians behind Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Celine Dion, Cher, Rod Stewart, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Spice Girls and more! From Jazz, Soul and Pop to House, Drum ‘n’ Bass and Hip Hop, Sophia’s vocal range and songwriting abilities know no boundaries.
Stringtheorist – Music Producer / Bassist / Synthesizer Specialist
Stringtheorist (aka Scott Wyllie) has many years experience as a creator as well as performing live with various bands. His style is free-flowing creativity, involving intelligent music performance and recording set-ups. He releases music as a solo artist, as well as collaborating with other artists, songwriters and music producers in various different genres.
