Music Production Workshop for Beginners
Who is this course for?
Aspiring songwriters and music producers . . . . anyone who wants to start making their own music using digital music technology as well as analogue instruments and audio equipment. By the end of the course, you will be able to connect the relevant equipment and start making your musical ideas become a reality.
The course is run in small groups which means you can also start to build your own network of musicians, songwriters and music producers immediately. Collaboration and sharing ideas, techniques and best practice are the best ways to develop your skills and thrive in the creative environment.
What will I learn?
This courses covers the basics to get you started. If you know nothing or very little about music recording and sequencing, then this course is for you! Live demonstrations in our recording studio Live Room and Control Room will allow you to get your hands on some equipment to start learning the ropes. You will be guided through the full process of making a song by our course leaders who have a wealth of experience, technical ability and commercial success:-

- Equipment Basics - choosing a DAW, connecting audio interface and MIDI
- Microphones - different types and uses
- Recording Vocals and Instruments - mic selection and placement
- VST Instruments and Plug Ins - tools to generate and process sound
- Songwriting - song analysis and song structuring, time signature and tempo
- Sequencing - laying down chord progression, lead lines and drum beats
